Wybierając parametry prowadzące do pożądanego interfejsu, rozwiązujemy problem numerycznie. Wykorzystując funkcję widmową, omawiamy różne obserwacje i właściwości stanów krawędziowych interfejsu.
Topological materials and their disorder-robust edge states have captured significant attention, finding applications beyond fundamental physics. The dimensionality of the edge plays a paramount role in the nature of these edge modes. One dimensional (1D) topological materials, when coupled with a proximate superconductor, are capable of hosting the elusive Majorana bound states, whose non-Abelian nature holds great promise for applications in quantum computing. In this thesis, we studied such a quasi 1D system resembling a ladder made of coupled nanowires. We found that within tight binding description, the ladder with periodic boundary condition realizes topological phase with the topological invariant in range [-3, 3]. We show that this is a direct result of the coupling between the nanowires and the topological phase can altered by tuning the coupling strengths between wires. Furthermore, the finite system hosts the Majorana bound modes within the superconducting gap for appropriate parameters. The two and three dimensional (2D and 3D) topological materials on the other hand have garnered interest due to the gapless states they manifest in the Brillouin zone. These gapless states behave like quasi particles which have the characteristics of the Dirac and Weyl fermions, naturally classifying their host with Dirac and Weyl semimetals (DSM and WSM) respectively. These materials are highly promising for next-generation electronics and spintronics due to their high electron mobility and potential for low-power, high-speed devices. In order to better understand the edge states we study an interface of an insulator and a WSM. We use the low energy effective model description of a time reversal WSM which hosts four Weyl nodes (gapless states). Choosing the parameters which lead to desired interface we solve the problem numerically. Employing the spectral function, we discuss various observations and properties of the edge states of the interface.
