Item A proposal for the mechanical design of the LumiCal detector(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2006) Błocki, Jacek; Daniluk, Witold; Gil, M.; Moszczyński, Arkadiusz; Oliwa, Krzysztof; Pawlik, Bogdan; Suszycki, Leszek; Wierba, Wojciech; Zawiejski, LeszekThe LumiCal calorimeter [1] will be located in very forward region of the future detector at the International Linear Collider (ILC) [2] . It is compose of tungsten plates and thirty silicon detector planes. It will be used for precisely luminosity measurement. The requirement for the position stability of the silicon detectors is very high. The actual position of each silicon detector plane relative to each other and of the calorimeter relative to the beam line and the interaction point should be known with accuracy of a few micrometers. To achieve this goal the structure of the calorimeter has to be very stiff. Moreover, the support and the temperature of the calorimeter have to be stable. The aim of this paper is to describe the mechanical structure of the detector which can fulfill the requirement of the structure stiffness. For the proposed structure appropriate calculations of deformations under the dead load have been carried out. From presented here results of calculations it is concluded that the proposed structure can be accepted from the stiffness point of view.Item CMOS optical sensor and readout electronics for LumiCal Alignment System(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2007) Błocki, Jacek; Daniluk, Witold; Gil, M.; Kielar, Eryk; Moszczyński, Arkadiusz; Oliwa, Krzysztof; Pawlik, Bogdan; Słomiński, Wojciech; Suszycki, Leszek; Wierba, Wojciech; Zawiejski, LeszekThe silicon-tungsten calorimeter LumiCal, located in very forward region of the future detector at the International Linear Collider, is proposed for precisely luminosity measurement. One of the requirements to fulfil this task is available information on the actual position of the calorimeter relative to the beam interaction area which should be known with accuracy of a few micrometers. In this paper we present project measurement unit for the positioning of the LumiCal electron detector by optical method using a laser beam and a CMOS sensor.Item Laser measurement of the LAT detector displacement(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2003) Wierba, Wojciech; Zachorowski, Jerzy; Oliwa, KrzysztofThe LAT (Low Angle Tagger) detector is the component of the proposed detector for meas-urement of the events produced in high energy e+ e- collisions at proposed TESLA collider. In this paper we discuss the possible solutions for the positioning of the LAT electron detector by optical method. The first results of the displacement measurement using a laser beam and a charge-coupled-device sensor are described. The measurements were performed on a proof-of-principle basis with a low cost web camera and achieved the accuracy of about 1 μm.Item Laser measurement of the LumiCal detector displacement(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2006) Błocki, Jacek; Daniluk, Witold; Gil, M.; Karbowiak, Michał; Moszczyński, Arkadiusz; Oliwa, Krzysztof; Pawlik, Bogdan; Słomiński, Wojciech; Suszycki, Leszek; Wierba, Wojciech; Zawiejski, LeszekThe silicon-tungsten calorimeter LumiCal, located in very forward region of the future detector at the International Linear Collider, is proposed for precisely luminosity measurement. The detector will be equipped with silicon sensors interspersed between tungsten plates of absorber. In this paper we present the design of the charge sensitive preamplifier for testing the prototypes of silicon detectors. For this purpose, the precise measurement of the scattering polar angles is crucial. A silicon–tungsten sandwich calorimeter with fine–segmented silicon sensors has been designed for this purpose. This paper describes two slightly different designs of silicon sensors for the LumiCal based on available silicon technologies and especially on the possibility of cutting silicon wafers on curved lines.Item The optical alignment system for luminosity detector at ILC(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2014) Banaś, Elżbieta; Daniluk, Witold; Kielar, Eryk; Kotuła, Jerzy; Krupa, Beata; Moszczyński, Arkadiusz; Oliwa, Krzysztof; Pawlik, Bogdan; Wierba, Wojciech; Zawiejski, LeszekThe possibility to use semi-transparent silicon detectors to measure the displacement detector luminosity LumiCal, planned for the future linear accelerator ILC / CLIC, was studied using an optical laser system based on these detectors. Preliminary results of measurements were achieved using the prototype of this system provided in the displacement measurement values of the X and Y directions with an accuracy of a few microns.Item ZEUS Luminosity Photon Calorimeter Linearity Measurement(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2007) Daniluk, Witold; Gil, M.; Oliwa, Krzysztof; Wierba, WojciechReport presents the test results of the linearity measurement of the Luminosity Photon Calorimeter readout electronics. Nonlinearity of the preamplifiers, amplifiers, 140 meters long analog signal transmission, integrators and FADC have been measured and analyzed. This allows making data correction and results in increased luminosity measurement precision for off-line processing.
