Item Cyclotron Production, Separation and Quality Control of 73As(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2004) Bartyzel, Mirosław; Kłos, Małgorzata; Misiak, Ryszard; Ochab, Ewa; Petelenz, BarbaraThe isotope 73As has been produced on the AIC-144 cyclotron via the natGe(p,xn)73As nuclear reaction. The high purity germanium target of natural isotopic abundance was bombarded by the internal proton beam. The target was dissolved in aqua regia, and the As isotopes were separated on the Dowex-1 ion-exchange resin. The contaminant 74As was let to decay. Traces of stable germanium in the final product were determined spectrophotometrically and by the internal tracer method. The 69Ge tracer was produced on the same cyclotron in the Zn(α,xn)69Ge reactions. The isotope 69Ge as well as its contaminants 66Ga and 67Ga, produced in Zn(α,pxn)66,67Ga reactions, were separated from Zn by solvent extraction from 7M HCl. The resultant carrier-free 73As was of high radionuclide purity and did not contain detectable traces of the target material.Item Metodyka otrzymywania, wydzielania i kontroli jakości izotopów promieniotwórczych wytwarzanych w cyklotronach w IFJ PAN(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2010) Bartyzel, Mirosław; Mietelski, Jerzy Wojciech; Misiak, Ryszard; Ochab, Ewa; Petelenz, Barbara; Szałkowski, Mirosław; Wąs, Bogdan; Zagrodzki, PawełThe presented report summarizes the long-term experience of a group of radiochemists from the Institute of Nuclear Physics, who have been involved in production, separation and quality control of radioactive nuclides arising in reactions of stable nuclei with charged particles accelerated in a cyclotron. The first part of the report says about possible applications of radionuclides, shows ways of target preparation, outlines methods of separation of radioactive products, gives the criteria for quality control, and describes briefly measurement methods. The second part contains monographs of the main radionuclides with which the group was dealing. An extra chapter is devoted to the assessment of internal doses delivered by the nuclides of interest, if administered to the patient’s organism.Item Otrzymywanie izotopów promieniotwórczych w cyklotronie AIC-144 w latach 2000-2003(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2003) Bakewicz, Edmund; Daniel, Krzysztof; Doruch, Henryk; Petelenz, Barbara; Tałach, Marek; Szałkowski, MirosławCyklotron AIC-144 Instytutu Fizyki Jądrowej PAN w Krakowie, modernizowany w celu jego przyszłych zastosowań medycznych, jest od roku 2000 coraz intensywniej wykorzystywany do otrzymywania izotopów. Odpowiednie tarcze są napromieniane wiązką wewnętrzną. Raport przedstawia sposób pokonania problemów napotkanych przy aktywacjach i osiągnięte rezultaty. Krótko opisano nową, uruchamianą obecnie, zautomatyzowaną sondę izotopową przeznaczoną do produkcji większych aktywności izotopów przy większych niż obecnie natężeniach wiązek. W rozdziale Dodatek przedstawiono wykaz 34 nuklidów promieniotwórczych otrzymanych w ciągu ostatnich 4 lat w 89 próbach, z podaniem celu aktywacji i nazwy zespołu, który prowadził badania.Item Propozycje modernizacji sondy izotopowej do cyklotronu AIC-144(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2007) Petelenz, Barbara; Szałkowski, MirosławThe report describes a prototype of the remotely controlled internal target assembly, designed and built in the Institute of Nuclear Physics. After a series of technical tests, the machine was used in 2006 to produce 73As from proton bombarded germanium targets. Before this, distribution of the proton beam on the target was checked by autoradiography of irradiated copper foils exposed on large area thermoluminescence detectors. Since the experiments exhibited some severe drawbacks of the machine, the report gives hints how to get rid of them, which is the answer to the question asked by the Deputy Director of the Institute on the topic. The construction parts of the assembly are listed in the Chapter 10.Item Upgrade of the equipment for production of gallium isotopes from proton - activated zinc targets(Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, 2014) Ochab, Ewa; Petelenz, Barbara; Szałkowski, Mirosław; Ruszel, Marek; Sroka, Artur; Bogdali, PawełTwo gallium isotopes, 66Ga (T1/2=9.4h, β+ 4.2MeV) and 67Ga (T1/2=78h, EC), can serve as good models in development of new 68Ga-labelled (T1/2=68m, β+ 1.9MeV) PET radiopharmaceuticals. In order to produce 66Ga and/or 67Ga from zinc targets activated in a medical cyclotron, we designed a prototype target whose external dimensions match the geometry of other standard targets, but which contains modified internal parts. Besides, we equipped our old apparatus for solvent extraction of 67Ga in new, remotely controlled, electric valves. Performance of the upgraded chemical apparatus turned out good and the gas- and water-tightness of the new target at room temperature were satisfactory too. Performance of the new target in the transport lines of the PETtrace cyclotron as well as its behavior in harsh thermal conditions have to be the matter of future experiments.
